After a difficult childhood, I thought I’d gotten my life together

My life started with trauma, as I lost my mother at age seven. I was an only child left with an abusive and alcoholic father. I left home at 19 and got a job at Trump Plaza. I stayed there for 17 years, and I was able to buy a home and put myself through Stockton University. I thought my life was together. I casually partied, but not to excess. I got married late, at age 33.

Physical pain led me toward addiction

After I had my children, I became a teacher and I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. I also had back and neck surgeries for damage from cocktail waitressing. The doctors prescribed me Roxicet for my ailments. I was hooked within a year. My life began to spiral and my marriage was in disarray.

White-knuckling my recovery didn’t work

I tried to white-knuckle addiction on my own many times, but the pills were always readily available. My doctor was my dealer. In 2021, a teacher friend told me about Workit Health. The program was great, and it allowed me to get clean and stay clean from home. The convenience of Workit for a working mom allowed me to work the program and still attend to life.

Finding Workit Health was the solution for me

If I were to talk to someone considering recovery, I would tell them to try MAT (medication-assisted treatment) and Workit Health. The program just works for me. My life has been so much better. This program saved me, my marriage, and my life relationships. Addiction knows no ZIP code. It can happen to anyone. We need to break the stigma. I am living proof … I am a teacher with a Master’s degree who went from snorting pills to living clean because of Workit.
