Let your star sign reveal a strategy to jumpstart your sobriety.
Our program is science-backed. Astrology? Not so much. But beat your Monday blues or your recovery slump with the tips below, regardless of whether or not the zodiac speaks to you. Don’t like your sign’s tip? Check out another, as they’re all sure to rocket your recovery towards the wild, wonderful world you want.
Aries: March 21st – April 19th
Structure is your double-edged sword. It keeps you stable, but makes you quake with boredom. Your enthusiasm and confidence can only hold strong while you feel engaged and refreshed. You do best as a recovery vagabond, at home on the road. Get involved in local advocacy or public information to keep things fresh.
Taurus: April 20th to May 21st
Find a combination of rigor and satisfaction in the journey of self-discovery that is Yoga of 12 Step Recovery. Founder Nikki Myers says, “The issues live in our tissues,” and this is ever true for the steady and sensual Taurus. Besides, you know you don’t want to exercise. So why not add it into your recovery routine?
Gemini: May 22nd – June 21st
The ever-inquisitive twins of the zodiac, you have never-ending questions about recovery. And luckily, there are conferences and talks out there with answers. Let your inner investigator shine at a national conference on addiction or recovery. Don’t limit yourself to 12-step conferences. Many professional conferences allow interested community members as guests. Can’t afford it? Find resources from public leaders like SAMSHA and NIDA.
Cancer: June 22nd – July 22nd
You’re an emotional creature, which is a gift and a curse in recovery. Emotional sobriety is a final frontier of recovery, and for a nurturer like you, it’s the key to happiness. A deep dive into meditation will help you honor yourself instead of others, and more deeply understand your own thoughts and feelings. If you’re not already setting aside a few minutes a day for meditation, download a meditation app on your phone and make it a priority.
Leo: July 23rd – August 22nd
You are your best self when you’re helping others. You know this. The good news? There are tons of sick folks out there, just waiting to be touched by your story. Start up a meeting in a rural area that doesn’t have one yet. Get involved with incarcerated people in your state. Work to change the stigma surrounding addiction with an advocacy organization like Facing Addiction. If you see a need, fill it.
Virgo: August 23rd – September 22nd
You don’t need any help pumping up your recovery, because you’re already working hard at it and wondering if you’re doing enough. But remember, recovery is just as much about service as it is about self-care. What have you done for yourself lately? Small acts of self-care, like a healthy home-cooked meal, honoring what you’ve done well during the day, and guiltlessly enjoying a book or TV show are all vital aspects of recovery.
Libra: September 23rd – October 22nd
A power word for your recovery vocabulary? “No.” Recovery means saying yes, unless you’re stressed and exhausted. And then? It’s okay to say no. Tune in to what’s going on in your body and your mind. And honor that feeling, even if it means during a few people down.
Scorpio: October 23rd to November 22nd
You are intense and magnetic, and the recovery world needs your passion and personality. But where can you go to recharge? Try mixing up your meditation and spiritual experience with gong meditation, a temple retreat, Buti yoga, or a West African drum and dance class.
Sagittarius: November 23rd – December 21st
Recovery becomes stale for you when you’re stuck indoors. Luckily, there’s a whole awe-inspiring world out there to dive into. Check out the concept of forest-bathing, and get your cleansing walk in nature on.
Capricorn: December 22nd – January 20th
You know what recovery looks like, and yours doesn’t need any pumping up, thank you very much. And I respect your recovery, Cap. You don’t need me to tell you what to do. You already know.
Aquarius: January 21st to February 18th
You often give, but make sure you’re taking care of yourself. A focus on healthy sleep habits can jump start your recovery. Turn off your screen and tuck yourself in an hour before bed. Relax, and read or write about your day. Wake up at the same time each morning.
Pisces: February 19th to March 20th
Pisces, you love to give to other people. And recovery asks you to do just that. But remember, you’re a maker at heart. Schedule in time (and save energy) for creative activity like writing, drawing, illustrating, or composing. You have a story to be told, and the world will benefit from you taking the time to tell it in your own deeply creative and unique way.
